The term Olympiad is derived from the Greek word Olympias, which refers to the four-year period between the Olympics and other sporting events. Olympiads are a series of competitive exams offered to pupils in all grades, from first through twelfth, that are open to all students in the country. Despite the fact that these examinations follow the same curriculum as is taught in each of the school’s classes, they are significantly different from the examinations that are held in school. Because they are held on a national or even international level, these examinations give pupils a more extensive platform than the school environment, allowing them to absorb more knowledge and bring out the actual potential of a child. These assessments are designed to help students improve their logical reasoning abilities as well as their critical thinking abilities. From the very beginning, they place a strong emphasis on the development of the students’ analytical talents, reasoning abilities, and problem-solving abilities.

  1. Not focusing in classes at school

A student’s desire to do well in an Olympiad examination does not imply, however, that they should rely solely on self-study and stop paying attention to their lecturers at school. The Olympiad examinations follow the same curriculum as the school examinations, which means that they are comparable in difficulty. In general, Olympiads seem to go deeper into the topic matter and present a wider range of questions. Students should remember not to become bogged down in a question for an extended period of time.   1. Not taking Olympiad examination seriously

Students nowadays are more concerned with their grades throughout their school years and on their boards, and they are entirely dismissive of the idea of participating in Olympiad competitions. Even the pupils in sixth grade, who have four more years to concentrate and worry about boards, are solely concerned with them and their classmates. This is not a negative thing because students’ objectives are established at a young age.

 However, what a student fails to realize is that, similar to boards, Olympiads are organized on a national or even international level, and that students can compete in both. What a youngster does not understand is that participating in Olympiads would only help them increase their percentage or performance abilities, thereby building their confidence to perform well in school examinations and earn higher grades in those examinations. Due to the fact that Olympiads deal with a greater variety of issues than school, they tend to prepare you for the most difficult questions so that you don’t get caught off guard and that you learn additional knowledge.

  1. Not making use of the available resources 

All students are concerned with finishing their coursework as quickly as they can. It makes little difference whether they have practiced or not, or whether they have established a time limit for revision. Students must understand the need for revising and practice in order to succeed. Each student is responsible for making the best possible use of the resources that are made available to them. Students are given the motivation to do well in their studies, but they are rarely given the confidence to sit through an examination without panicking, which is why it is totally up to the students to establish their own confidence. Because sixth grade is such a young age, pupils can tell themselves positive phrases until they begin to believe those words totally in their own minds. The majority of children at this age are innocent, and they seek their peers for advice and direction. It is critical to instill in them the understanding that every student their age, even if it does not appear so at times, is experiencing the same emotions; therefore, it is critical for them to concentrate solely on themselves.
